I want it NOW!
If you stand over a budding rose demanding it to open so that you can enjoy its beauty now, the rose will not oblige you. Things takes time to unfold and bloom into fullness. There can be as much joy in the anticipation as in the having.
I understand what it feels like to want something now, right now, right this second. That feeling like I'm going to explode if I don't have what I want right now. I call it Veruca Salt Syndrome, and truth is, I still feel that way sometimes.
The problem is that when I’m focused on what I don’t have, I’m not enjoying what I dohave in that moment. When I am focused on what I don't have, I miss what I do have. When I am focused on lack I get lack, and I am not focused on abundance, on joy, on gratitude, on good. When I focus on lack I suffer.
Today I can choose a way better thought than lack thoughts, a happier thought, a thought about all the gifts and all the joys this absolutely precious moment has to offer me. I embrace the sadness the disappointment, name it say out loud “I feel frustrated!” Then I choose to look around and see what I do have, what is real, what is true in this moment. There are so many that I see with my eyes from where I sit right now, right this moment. Try it! Look around you right now where you are sitting and count all the absolutely amazing things you can. Go ahead, I'll wait.
Pretty spectacular isn't it? And you can do that A N Y time you want to!
Sure I could make you a list of all the things I wish I had, all the things that I wish were manifesting right now in this moment. I simply choose the happy thought vs the unhappy though and I am happier for it. And yes, it really is just that simple. Be here now. Embrace the abundance that is in this moment. There’s lots of it!
I trust the process of life. Joy can be found in every stage and each moment.
